Yesterday March 24, 2015 a private viewing of the ‘Silene’ Cuff by Zaha Hadid in collaboration with AWMouzannar was held at Qirdala, a jewelry shop in Tilal Complex, Shwaikh, Kuwait. The event showcased the cuff along with some of the finest pieces designed by Alia & Dori Mouzannar.

me trying it on, loved how light it is

The cuff is made of 12 pieces and is encrusted with 1048 diamonds. The prototype shown is made of brushed white gold but can be ordered in either pink or yellow gold. The price was not disclosed, but what I got to know is that only 12 pieces will be made, 2 have already been sold.

“Silene expresses the fluidity and complexity of natural forms,” said Hadid. “An intricate web gently envelops the pristine white gold cuff resulting in a delicate piece that explores the evolution of organic geometries and patterning.”

Zaha Hadid Designs The King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station In Riyadh | Architecture

It is all over the news now that Zaha Hadid Architects have been commissioned by the ArRiyadh Development Authority to construct the new King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station in its capital city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

I don't really get the 'ship' idea but i am sure there is a valid reason. The interlacing structure and the lovely horizontally developed structure is her trademark and it's beautiful. This project should be realized by 2017 which is relatively little in time but apparently a condition set by the King personally.

Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Center By Zaha Hadid Architects

At 115,000 sq.m in Changsha, China, The International Culture & Arts Centre embodies a unique variety of civic nodes and spaces: A Grand Theatre, a Contemporary Art Museum, a Multipurpose Hall and supporting facilities. The central plaza is generated by the relative position of these separate buildings and offers a strong urban experience whereby the flow of pedestrian visitors that come from all sides of the site intersect and meet. In parallel it also stretches outwards to the neighboring streets with unfettered and phenomenal views across Meixi lake with access towards Festival Island.

The Grand Theatre is the focal point of the Changsha International Culture & Arts Centre. It is the largest performance venue in the city with a total capacity of 1800 seats. Designed to host world-standard performances the building contains will contain all the necessary front of house functions, such as lobbies, cloakrooms, bars, restaurants, and VIP hospitality, as well as the required ancillary functions, such as administration, rehearsal rooms, backstage logistics, dressing and make-up rooms, and wardrobe.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University (MSU) By Zaha Hadid | Architecture

Zaha-Hadid-Architecture-Design-08

A friend of mine studying at MSU sent me an image of this beautiful museum by Zaha Hadid Architects  which I found was a bit different than her other work yet still very powerful. The museum is known as The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum and is located at Michigan State University (MSU), Michigan, U.S.A.

This Museum at MSU will serve as both an educational resource for the campus community and a cultural hub. It will present contemporary works within a historical context through access to a study collection of more than 7,500 objects, ranging from the Greek and Roman periods to modern art.

“The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University is committed to exploring international contemporary culture and ideas through art. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid, the museum features a striking façade of pleated stainless steel and glass, signaling the museum and the university’s dynamic vision. More than 70 percent of the 46,000-square-foot facility is dedicated to exhibition space. The museum is named for Eli and Edythe Broad, longtime supporters of Michigan State University, who provided the lead gift for the museum.”
