One of the fist designers to introduce copper in modern interiors and in a very flamboyant way was Tom Dixon. His interiors are known to have copper as the main finishing element and I think he has done an amazing job so far. This project is his first ever in Paris , a new restaurant from Fabienne and Philippe Amzalak and Jean-Louis Costes, called Eclectic.

The main features are the pendant light in the center and custom made honey comb copper wall. The seating is mostly  ‘lounging’ with large booths and armchairs that are part of the designer’s collection.

Tom Dixon Introduces New Lighting Fixtures

EtchWeb03

Milan 2012 will witness the launch of  ‘Luminosity’, a showcase of new lamps, lights and shades presented in a series of illuminated environments, at MOST, a festival of design, innovation and culture to be held at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.

Luminosity is an exploration of light. On a mission to illuminate and furnish the future, we aim to de-mystify preconceptions of artificial light and to educate people on the future of lighting. New Products introduced by Tom Dixon include:

EtchWeb02

Etch Web is a vast 65cm wide shade with an unusual open structure, designed to cast atmospheric angular shadows when lit. An irregular pentagon shape is repeated 60 times across the body to create a total sphere. The enormous globe is astonishingly lightweight, weighing only 980 grams, with a correspondingly ethereal visual attitude. Formed from copper anodized aluminum through a process of digital photo-acid etching, an oversized LED bulb is suspended within the center of Etch Web to make it the ultimate shadow play pendant.

I’m not sure if I actually love this bakery or giving into my Carb cravings! I actually think its both. The combination of wood and crisp clean Carrara  marble finish is just amazing. It opens the entire space yet allows the cozy feel of a bakery. Stylish Tom Dixon lights and the industrial Tolix chairs add a hip element to this 35 square meter space located on a very strategic corner in Edessa Greece.

Studioprototype worked on this pilot project for the bakery chain. The floor plan is  narrow and linear, the designers suggested having the long marble food counter as the focal point of the entire space.

A sense of craftsmanship is imbued with the exterior of the shop being entirely clad in cedar like a well tailored suit. Punctuating the cedar cladding on the long facade, a black powder coated steel window box projects outwards beyond the ‘crust’ of the shop to serve as a seating area and bar for customers inside and outside the shop.
