Today is the last day at Maison & Objet 2013 and it was a success as it is every time. If you were following me on instagram you should have noticed that Design Circle were updating their stream regularly to keep us all up to date with the trends being presented at the fair. Design Circle is a leading supplier for luxury furniture in the Middle East and located in Kuwait. It is owned by Pro-design group known for being one of the best high end designers and furniture retailers in the region. Well that’s not the exciting part, they finally caught up with the socila media wagon and just joined instagram, twitter, and facebook! They already have the Roche Bobois Kuwait facebook page.
I compiled some of their most beautiful images and inspirations they have been sharing, the images include a variety of accessories, outdoor furniture, fabric, wall coverings, and most importantly luxury furniture from the best brands in the world such as Fendi Casa, Kenzo Maison, Ralph Lauren Home, Minotti, Baxter, Baker, and Roche Bobois. Milan holds one of the world’s top exhibitions for furniture, lighting, and all that is related to the interior design industry. This year is no exception, the world’s top brands introduce new materials, designs, and pieces during iSaloni setting the trends for the coming year. Baxter, an Italian furniture brand known for its eccentric designs and luxury leathers, reintroduced the Chester moon which has become their iconic piece.
Regardless of any political opinions on the current Syrian conflict, I could not help but be intrigued by the details obtained by The Guardian concerning the believed-to-be private e-mails of Syria’s president Bashar Al Assad and his wife Asma. In a few of these e-mails, their purchases were revealed most of which were home items and high end furniture, I have to complement Mrs. Assad on her taste, her home furnishings were mainly from Baker and Baxter. One question though, was she ordering them for her Syria house or where exactly?!
Quilting is back, and now its not exclusive to the classic furniture brands and designs. The detailing that was once a signature of the English Cigar lounge look has now been recreated, thanks to one of the top brands in the furniture industry that is known for its luxurious leather lounges and out of the ordinary designs. Baxter is a “unique brand devoted to a sophisticated clientele which appreciates contemporary luxury and moods that are consistently new and amazing”.
Last year Baxter released one of their icon pieces, the Chester Moon by the very famous architect and Designer Paola Navone. It was released as part of an African inspired project presented at the 2009 Maison et Objet. In this collection, leather is presented as a new and versatile material, which is the utmost expression of quality and naturalness. Paola Navone reveals a decorative, new and unexpected side of leather in this line.
The Chester Moon sofa is a fully handmade sofa that takes up 45 days of manual labor.
Baxter’s Chester moon comes in 4 dimensions and reaches up to 395cm. Whatever the finish or dimension it should be treated in the space its in as a “statement” piece, against it should be a contrasting mellow yet elegant item that would allow it to accentuate. In an amazing AD by Nespresso and featuring George Clooney, the Chester Moon sofa was used to portray a cloud in heaven, which is exactly how it feels.
