Sculptures Made Out Of Matchsticks | Art

DavidMach12

David Mach is the artist behind these matchstick sculptures. He starts off with designing a form, usually having a plastic model made from a clay mold. Then the task of sticking each matchstick onto the figure begins.

His sculptures are usually of controversial people or characters everyone is familiar with such as Betty Boop, Charlie Chaplin, and  Marilyn Monroe. The first question I had was whether he applies the color to the matchsticks or buys them already in those colors, turns out he imports many of them from Japan

Mach sells some of them at galleries and auctions, but others are destined to be set aflame and burnt down at exhibitions.

“For me, photography will always be closely tied to travelling. I like to travel, see the world, where I hope to learn something, grow, and maybe leave something behind. Naturally, somewhere along the line, i wanted to capture some of these moments. The camera allowed me to capture beautiful places, interesting people, and sometimes even myself.”

Understanding Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci is known to be one of the greatest men of all time, he was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer whose genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal.

In this video, CNN’s Nick Glass travels to the Uffizi Gallery to get a better insight into the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci.

The background music is so calming, the video is to the point and beautiful, grab you cup of coffee, relax, and listen…

Geometric Illustrations Of Superheroes by Liam Brazier | Art

spiderman(1)

Liam Brazier is an illustrator and animator who has been creating illustrations of popular characters using geometric lines. He was noticed at first for the Star Wars illustrations and now presented the superheroes in the same manner but with much more vibrant colors. On his blog he explains part of the process of creating them. I actually loved them as huge pieces of art to be used in any room, the colors

Liam has had illustration and animation work displayed in and at the Dazed & Confused, Creative Review, Design Week, Glastonbury, the Museum of London, London tube platforms, international film festivals & Virgin TV.
