The Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi | Hotel Design

Now synonymous with the Ferrari race track, there’s nothing quiet about Yas. This 6,000-acre island right off the coast of Abu Dhabi buzzes with a 143-berth marina and yacht club, a 3.4-mile Formula One racetrack, and now the new nine-story, nearly one-million-square-foot Yas Hotel, which opened in November, just in time for the first-annual Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. To keep pace with the island’s vibe, the hotel’s designers positioned its two buildings half on land, half on water, with the racetrack cutting through. Share your Christmas Story with Mont Blanc

Starting December 1,2010, Mont Blanc are asking you to be part of this festive season.Each day they will be sharing a story until Christmas Eve. The idea as all of Mont Blanc’s campaigns are very creative and people oriented. The inspiration for this event was by Virginia O’Hanlon’s timeless query, a story of an 8 year old girl who was wondering about the existence of Santa Claus. Her story and the reply she received have become part of American History and culture.

Vivienda 19 House by A-Cero | Residential Design

A-Cero is an architecture studio that has become a reference for most architects and designers. Their modern use of proportions, volumes, and minimalistic aesthetics has given them this significance. The Vivienda 19, located near Madrid, is a clear indication of their contemporary style.

Tower of Power | Green Architecture

The ambition to create a 300-meter high freestanding tower with sightseeing and recreational functions that will serve as a ‘model green building’.This is one of two entries submitted by NL Architects for Taiwan Tower. Instead of having just icons of steel or concrete, the idea here was to generate power via the tower. An innovative and bold concept.

Zaha Hadid Designs Grand Rabat Theater| Architecture

Following a recent ceremony in Rabat, Morroco, Agence pour l’Aménagement de la Vallée du Bouregreg (The Bouregreg Valley Development Agency) verified that architectural designs will be provided by Zaha Hadid Architects.  The program will include three theater spaces, indoor spaces consisting of 2,050-seat and a 520-seat, and a fully-equipped outdoor amphitheater holding up to 7,000 people.   The theaters will share back of house facilities, efficiently reducing the size of the building services needed.  Creative studios will also be incorporated into this cultural venue. Estimated cost is at 120 Million Euros for the Rabat Grand Theater.

Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali | Hotel Design

This hotel and villa development is designed as an ecologically sustainable development designed by WOHA. Located on the dry savannah landscape of the Bukit Peninsular on the dramatic southern cliffs of the Indonesian island of Bali, it comprises of a 50 suite hotel with 35 residential villas. The resort opened its doors in June 2009.

The Office Chairs of 2011

Wilkhahn | Graph Chair Designed by  Jehs + Laub

Designers Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub develop a new, high-end range of conference chairs for Wilkhahn. At the design’s core is a seat shell that can be divided and put back together differently, with the armrests becoming the main link between the seat and the backrest. The original, unitary shell shape is still recognizable, but a high level of visual lightness is achieved by the cut-out section and open armrests.
