Magnificent House By SAOTA In South Africa| Residential design

Contemporary-residence-biflold-doors-665x441

I tend to prefer modern architecture and interiors over the more classic ones, mainly because of the spaciousness and cleanliness when well designed. This beautiful house is designed by SAOTA and is located in the most exclusive street in Cape Town, South Africa.

In addition to breathtaking architecture, this residence boasts  a stylish garden with outdoor living area set into the mountain face behind. The openness of the main living area to the terrace makes the seascape a major part of the interior.

Artist Uses Clothesline Installations As Art | Art

Finnish artist Kaarina Kaikkonen creates site-specific installations by recycling secondhand clothing. The artist suspends the garments like a line of laundry hanging out to dry. A habit known to poor parts of most countries, has become in this installation an artistic statement!

Initially, the apparel artist worked with men’s jackets, shirts, and ties, finding inspiration from memories of her late father. In recent years, Kaikkonen has turned her attention onto the memory of her late mother, utilizing women’s clothing and shoes. Holding on to clothing is a way of holding on to memories of people. In a way, hanging the articles of clothing high above is freeing.

Kaikkonen’s large-scale installations have lined many streets and fields across the world. She began her creative apparel adventures in the 80s and has grown to master the art of lined clothing installations, producing fantastic, grandeur shapes in open spaces. Her pieces really transform any space they inhabit.

Windfall Chandeliers

windfall 3

Windfall is known worldwide as the dynamic contemporary chandelier brand, which is re-defining the nature of crystal chandeliers. Dutch born Roel Haagmans and German Clarissa Dorn were already experienced chandelier designers for other companies when they set up Windfall together in Munich in 2004, to explore the contemporary potential of crystal chandeliers.
Their knowledge of technical issues is considered not only world-class, but also probably unmatched, and with Windfall they have developed an aesthetic, which has brought them to the attention of a deeply fashionable Design crowd.
"Windfall have entirely re-invented how crystal can be used, stripping back the old idea of an overburdened chandelier to it’s essentials, and bringing a fresh, airy, contemporary quality to classic materials".

Windfall also supplies chandeliers for some of the world’s top luxury brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Cartier, and Mont Blanc.
