Cotta Cafe Australia By MIM Design | Cafe Design

Cotta is a very trendy cafe in Melbourne, Australia designed by MIM Design making use of a number of lovely natural materials complementing each other in the best way possible. In this project the designers kept the overall image rustic yet with clean and sleek inserts of marble and a beautiful modern central chandelier. Materials used are warm and earthy with steel partitions and variations in seating arrangements, which was my favorite part of the setting.I loved the emphasis on the central axis of the cafe, it's what I would have done.

Mim Design worked on the entire concept including the venue name, graphics & branding, and interior design.

Ivanka Trump Apartment In Park Avenue | Celebrity Homes

Ivanka Trump commissioned Kelly Behun to design her penthouse on Park Avenue prior to her delivery. She wanted he penthouse to be a home for her lovely family. As a first step she chose the location close to her work and Central Park since she wanted to check on her child whenever she could get the chance. For her apartment she chose certain pieces from the clock options and worked around them, that’s the way she likes to work. Kelly Behun’s vast number of selections helped with her choices, according to the article prepared by Elle Decor. If you are looking for online interior design services, Laurel & Wolf offer an easy platform to find your style.

Many of the pieces were custom made but not the dining room chandelier by Lindsay Adelman which according to Elle Decor, was her favorite piece in the house. Her dining chairs are by Mies Ven Der Rohe, iconic pieces.

Chico’s Restaurant In Finland | Restaurant Design

It is probably obvious what I loved about this space, the huge mural laid on painted bricks. I know it’s the trend now to use rustic and natural looking finishes,  I had to share this post. I have some comments regarding the design of the entire space but overall I think the designer has some interesting elements. The  old window frames, steel chairs, and bricks were beautifully integrated in the space and allowed the beautiful murals to stand out. This restauarant was designed by Amerikka Design Office.

From the Designers:

The Chico’s restaurant chain has been serving North American food to Finns since 1991. In spring 2012, the chain’s time-honored Iso Omena (‘Big Apple’) restaurant was reopened with a bold new interior. Amerikka Design Office Ltd. had created a new space concept for the restaurant, designed to support its new food, drink and service concept. Visually, the restaurant underwent a complete transformation.

Diners and staff alike have felt at home in the restaurant: there has been positive feedback on its atmosphere, its spicy details and its solutions which make it easier to serve customers. The positivity is reflected in business figures, too.

The visual standpoint for the restaurant’s look is modern-day USA, manifested through a wild mix of urban pulse and human warmth. The restaurant interior is marked by bold expression, beautifully fading surfaces, genuine materials and murals by painters Juha Lahtinen and Samuli Suonperä.

The restaurant premises are designed to function seamlessly through all seasons and to serve a wide range of requirements. Chico’s invites customers to enjoy lunch, a drink or dinner on their own or with friends. To support the staff in their work, the restaurant facilities also comply with the chain’s service model. The change has been a success and a delight for customers and staff alike.

Ammo Restaurant In Hong Kong | Restaurant Design

New York based architects Todd Williams & Billie Tsien were commissioned to create a landmark building for the Hong Kong Asia Society as for their new headquarters.

Joyce Wang, an interior designer who made a great impact only 3 years ago, created an exceptional space using sculptural designs in every item especially the spiral staircase chandeliers made of copper cylinders filling up the 6m high ceiling. These sculptures are repeated 3 times to create a theme. The detailing and finishes are very luxurious, with the use of vevet and leather in addition to the copper.

The source of inspiration for AMMO was derived from a science fiction film noir masterpiece directed by Jean-Luc Godard known as ‘Alphaville’. This particular 1960’s influence is one of the jewel attributes as to why this space has such importance.”

Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam By Italian Designer Piero Lissoni | Hotel Design

Piero Lisssoni, one of Italy’s well known designers, designed the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam. The steel structure, the volumes, lovely furniture, and color scheme are what make the design of this hotel so spectacular. Sleek and sexy are what best describe every part of this beautiful structure.

Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam occupies the famous site of Amsterdam’s former Sweelinck music conservatorium. Originally built at the end of the 19th Century and conceived by the renowned Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel as the Rijkspostspaarbank Building, the construction heralded an urban regeneration of the Museumplein, an area which had been left previously derelict. Knuttel was praised for his ability to fuse simplicity and functionality, and the award-winning Milan-based furniture and interiors designer Piero Lissoni has embraced this tradition through the re-incarnation of this spectacular building 100I years later.

Against the backdrop of the building’s incredibly rich history, the hotel has been consistently imbued with Lissoni’s signature style. Known for his austere lines, demure fabrics and shades of grey that are occasionally dotted by the appearance of bright accents, Lissoni is considered one of the most prominent and exciting contemporary Italian designers. His clean designs are a hybrid of modernist and contemporary chic and contrast playfully with the on-going bath of natural daylight throughout the building’s airy spaces. Furniture from leading Italian manufactures such as Living Divani, Kartell and Cassina sit prominently in all communal spaces while accent pieces such as vintage Asian rugs provide a sense familiar comfort.

Beautiful House in Maryland | Residential Design

Beautifully complementing the surrounding landscape, this lovely house located in Maryland right outside Washington, DC. is designed by Robert Gurney Architects. The landscape alone is just breathtaking with mature trees and a river view.

The house is of two volumes connected using glass bridges. Other overlapping secondary volumes make the entire structure more dynamic. The large spans of glass give a lovely coherence with the wooded landscape.

The use of stone, wood, and glass is a perfect combination for any exterior to feel balanced and blend in such a beautiful surrounding.

Ralph Lauren’s Fifth Avenue Duplex | Celebrity Homes

Photographer: Richard Corman

Ralph Lauren commissioned the late decorator Angelo Donghia to rennovate and design his Fifth Avenue Duplex. For this particular place, Lauren was motivated by a “simple, almost primitive desire for clean, open space”. Donghia became one of his closest friends, Lauren liked his clean lines and simplicity.

Lauren wanted a simple retreat, a place where white was predominant and where he felt like he was “floating on a cloud”, thus the elevated level of the living room. The apartment enjoys beautiful views and a great amount of natural light.

To add to the simplicity, the herring bone wood flooring was replaced with a more simple pattern and a slightly darker tint. Materials used in the kitchens and bathrooms are now very sleek and modern with glossy surfaces and clean lines. Furniture was replaced, banana plants were discarded.
