The Longest Running Digital Conference in the Middle East is back!

Lebanon’s key decision makers will gather for the 7th ArabNet Beirut conference, the longest running digital conference in the Middle East. Executives from the country’s top institutions have been actively involved in the success of the conference over the years, with notables such as Neemat Frem (President & CEO, Indevco Group), Nayla Tueni (CEO, Annahar Newspaper) and Michel Elefteriades (the Emperor).

About 50% of ArabNet Beirut’s attendants are CXOs, cementing the conference as the go to rendezvous for top decision makers and innovators. Few of those leaders and entrepreneurs have gone on to found further endeavours that bear fruit today, making Beirut the next best market for startups and digital savvy people. “The key is quality, intelligence and the ability to connect to the right decision makers” says Omar Christidis, CEO and founder of ArabNet. ArabNet Beirut’s coverage of cutting edge topics from across the digital landscape builds on research from the ArabNet Business Intelligence arm. The most comprehensive report on top app trends in the MENA was the first report to be launched, recently, and is set to be followed by a bigger report on digital investment landscapes.

“These have been possible thanks to our human capital and connections in the market” explains Omar Christidis. “The quality and insights of these reports, and our conferences at large, are also possible because of our deep and longterm relationship with the industry”. The head of the conference and content team, Racha Ghamlouch, promises an experience that will tap into the Beirut startup and digital ecosystem scene. Five competitions are lined up for the event: the Startup Demo, Ideathon, Lightning Talks, Creative Battle as well as the Innovation Avenue, a hardwarefocused challenge that brings together geeks and tech fanatics in one place. “Attendees and participants come from across the region and the world to attend this 3day event” adds Racha. “Over 40% of startups meet the right investors during our conferences, while 80% manage to meet and set relationships with key decision makers and the media.” “This year we’re going for the 100% mark” finishes off Racha. ArabNet Beirut 2016 will be held on March 123 and is expected to be one of the most exclusive ArabNet events yet. Past ArabNet events have notably attracted top speakers, participants, and partners from corporations such as Banque Du Liban, Souq.com, Touch, Alfa, TBWA, Facebook, DMS, Majid Al Futtaim, JWT, STC, Twitter, Starcom, Criteo, SkyNews, VISA, Leo Burnett, Deloitte, LBC, Microsoft, Uber, Vivaki, GE, MakerStudios (Disney), FP7, 500Startups, OMD, International New York Times, and many more.

ArabNet is the hub for Arab digital professionals and entrepreneurs, creating online and offline platforms for them to connect and learn. ArabNet’s vision is to grow the web and mobile sectors in the Arab region. It also aims to build business bridges across the MENA, stimulate the growth of the Arab knowledge economy, and support the creation of new businesses and job opportunities for youth through conferences, partnerships, and competitions.

Beirut: Mixed Feelings Exhibition | November 28- January 5, 2016

PHAT- Artist

Inspired by emotions that mix nostalgic joy with unruly chaos, ‘Beirut Mixed Feelings’ Art Exhibition launched on November 28 and remaining till January 5 2016 at L’Heure Bleue, the newly opened art space just steps away from Sursock Museum. Intending to create a gallery of paintings, sculptures, illustrations and photography which unfolds in real-time with every scream or laughter in Beirut, the exquisite art pieces are featured by 18 talented Lebanese artists including Selim Atieh, Alexandra Baduy, Laura Choueiry, Yasmeen Farah, Riad Hanna, Emile Issa, Alexandre Khoury, MOE, Cyril Najjar, Marwan Nahlé, Nayorba, PHAT 2, Mona Sehnaoui, Sharway, Kim Andrea Stockinger, Michele Tadros, TAZ and ZED.

Beirut has been an epicenter of creative ferment for decades and with the rapidly evolving political, environmental and emotional landscape, the artists ferociously churned out work that was populist and subversive, utopian and raw, antic and angry. They adopted an anarchic attitude that violated the gap between high art and mass culture, removed the production and reception of avant-garde art from its isolation within elite circles, and directly addressed social and political concerns.

‘Beirut Mixed Feelings’ artistically portrays what every Lebanese person truly feels. Mixed feelings, lots of questions to which there really are no answers to and a dilemma between love, patriotism and anger.

Beirut Mixed Feelings at L’Heure Bleue:  November 28, 2015 – January 5, 2016:

Address:  Bechara Nammour Street, 108 Sursock Street, Achrafieh, Beirut

Pantone Reveals 2 Colors for 2016

pantone 2016

For the first time Pantone introduces two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity as the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.

Whether in soft or hard surface material, the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity brings calm and relaxation. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the engaging combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. Add in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.
