Where To Go During Dubai Design Week| 13-18 November 2017

Dubai Design Week has become the number one design event in the Middle East and is growing more and more annually. This year the program is more diverse than all previous years. I strongly advise you to make use of the large number of interesting talks and workshops. If you can, try to visit the Louvre in Abu Dhabi which will be officially opening November 11, 2017.

As for Dubai Design Week, it is a diverse 6-day program of exhibitions, installations, talks, educational workshops and more which will allow visitors the opportunity to discover and engage with design. The free-to-attend program will serve as a rich introduction to the design scene in the UAE, and build on the many events and exhibitions happening throughout the week and beyond.

I will list below some of my favourite programs, to check out the rest of the list go to Dubai Design Week website.

Icons Collection Exhibition at Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris | Exhibitions

Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris and Art photo Expo are pleased to present the Icons Collection in the Art District gallery, an exhibition proposing an exclusive selection of portraits of personalities by renowned photographers, whose images have forged the legend of the icons of our time.

The Icons Collection goes through some of the major stages in the history of cinema,  music, fashion and sports. These celebrities have made generations dream, dance, cry and are engraved in our memories. Some of these images transcend across various cultures.

This exhibition is also a tribute to the modern personalities highlighted in our news thanks to the power of social networks. Some of the subjects are genuinely timeless icons and others are infamous, but all of the photos are equally magical.

The star-studded exhibition presents more than 60 photographs of different formats in limited editions which are signed by twenty selected photographers. Guests will be able to see Marilyn Monroe meet Naomi Campbell, Mike Tyson defy Belmondo, Brigitte Bardot give the side-eye to Kate Moss and Ray Charles meet David Bowie.

Photos by: Richard Aujard, Claude Azoulay, Arno Bani, Raymond Cauchetier, Michel Comte, John Dominis, Arthur Elgort, Tony Frank, Ron Gallela, Claude Gassian, François Gragnon, Michel Haddi, Markus Klinko, Thierry Le Goues, Philippe Robert, Luc Roux, Sofia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello, Ellen Von Unwerth, Albert Watson.

About Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris:
Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris reopened in 2010 as the most exciting 5-star luxury hotel in the City of Lights, after a dramatic and complete two-year transformation by designer Philippe Starck. The hotel has 149 luxurious rooms and suites and is just minutes from the Arc-de-Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées in Paris’ 8th arrondissement. At Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris, art is omnipresent, with an exclusive service of Art Concierge, an Art Bookstore, a private Art Gallery, a 99-seat cinema theatre and an impressive private art collection.

Food and drink are an art form here too – from the buzz of Le bar Long on the ground floor, to the two restaurants, Matsuhisa Paris for a Japanese cuisine and Il Carpaccio Michelin-star Italian restaurant. Not to be missed are the delicious pastries, macarons and chocolates by Pierre Hermé, considered by Vogue magazine as the ‘Picasso of pastry’. Art, decoration, design and a fashionable selection: Le Royal Eclaireur is an exclusive destination. The 1,500sqm Spa My Blend by Clarins is an award-winning white paradise, with the longest swimming pool in a Paris hotel.

Louis Vuitton New Objets Nomades to Be Displayed During Fuori Milan | Exhibition April 4-9, 2017

The most anticipated furniture fair all year is the Salone Del Mobile, this year it takes place between April 4-9, 2017. The fair is complemented with Euroluce among other interesting events.
The Objets Nomades Collection from fashion house Louis Vuitton, enriched with 10 new items, will be presented during Fuori Salone in Milan, from April 4th to 9th at Palazzo Bocconi.

Created in 2012, the Objets Nomades collection keeps alive Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of beautifully crafted travel objects. Some of the world’s most renowned designers have since imagined stunning travel-inspired Objets, which have then been made by Louis Vuitton.

The limited editions and experimental prototypes that make up the Objets Nomades collection all pay homage to the House’s special orders of the past and add the defiantly contemporary visions of creative designers from around the world: Atelier Oï, Maarten Baas, Barber and Osgerby, the Campana Brothers, Damien Langlois-Meurinne, Nendo, Gwenaël Nicolas, Raw Edges, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and, most recently, India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka.

Today, there are 25 Objets Nomades and 10 among them will be presented for the first time during Fuori Salone in Milano. From a hammock to a deckchair, from a swing chair to a foldable stool. Each Objet embodies the same ideals: a love of the beauty of fine materials, the possibility of forms and carefully balanced proportions, complex and meticulous craftsmanship, and close attention to detail.

Salone Del Mobile. Milano | April 12- 17, 2016 | Exhibition

campagna con testo logo_en

The biggest date on the world’s furniture calendar falls on a Wednesday in April, marking the start of the annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile, a week packed with events, exhibitions and presentations, where everyone who’s anyone on the international furniture design and manufacturing scene comes together to keep up with the latest developments in the field.

The Salone is now into its 55th year, championing innovation and internationality – in fact the number of foreign exhibitors has risen again, now making up almost 30% of all the manufacturers at the fair. It is clearly going to be an interesting edition, both in terms of the wide-ranging commercial offering from a line-up of top specialist companies on the national and international market, and in terms of the search for a balance between tradition and innovation in the name of quality and culture.

Following the success of the 2015 edition – attended by 310,840 visitors – the 2016 edition will feature the Salone Internazionale del Mobile along with the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, and more than 1,300 exhibitors ranged over 150,000 square metres, split into Classic and Design sections, making for a visitor-friendly floor plan and a 360° insight into the world of furniture and furnishing accessories. The biennial EuroCucina and its collateral exhibition FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) are back, along with the International Bathroom Exhibition.
Quality and figures that confirm the importance and attraction of an event that embodies the best of Italian and international furnishing.
