L’hôtel Mama Shelter Marseille by Philippe Starck

“There is no project without something very powerful behind it; a human reason, social, love. A vision. Otherwise it cannot legitimately exist. We cannot separate Mama Shelter from its genesis, a simple application of a vision and a story. A human story, an encounter, affinity, a deep friendship, people who love each other. This is the starting point for everything” says Starck.

Mama Shelter hotel was originally created by Starck and Serge Trigano of Club Med fame, his sons Jeremy and Benjamin, urbanist/ philosopher Cyril Aouizerate and hotel magnate Michel Reybier. This is the second Mama hotel opening in Marseille after its debut in Paris.

Bottega Veneta Hotel Rooms | Hotel Design

Bottega-Veneta-Hotel-Room

Bottega Veneta has been pretty busy the past few years designing hotel rooms. Above is their latest from the Park Hyatt Chicago. Known for their soft and exotic leather, hotel clients staying in this room will be enjoying this luxury. The 1,400-square-foot suite offers a bedroom, open living room, kitchenette, and two bathrooms. I am expecting a furniture line by them, from the looks of these rooms you can sense a furniture “style” paving its way into the furniture world.

In addition to Chicago, there are Bottega Veneta rooms in the St. Regis of both New York and Rome, pictures below. A new one is to be designed for the St. Regis in Florence as well.

Gucci’s Aquariva & Fendi’s Lady Lara

Both Gucci and Fendi are entering the world of design for luxury transportation by storm. A few months ago we saw the photos of the magnificent Lady Lara yacht furnished by Fendi Casa and last month Gucci announced they are introducing made-to-order speedboats with prices starting at around $750,000.

The Aquariva By Gucci ,produced along with Officina Italiana Design, will be available by special order in 2011 . The boat was designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini as part of Gucci’s upcoming 90th anniversary celebrations. The boat’s fiberglass hull and detailing are painted in Gucci’s custom glossy white, offset with varnished mahogany in the cockpit and decks. The seats and sundeck are upholstered in waterproof Gucci print fabric with the fashion house’s signature red and green stripe detailing. Gianni has also designed a number of Riva by Gucci his-and-hers accessories, including bags and shoes, to go along with the craft, which is powered by two 380 hp Yanmar engines for a maximum speed of 41 knots and a 150-mile range at cruising speed. info source

Lady Lara by Fendi Casa

In its first venture at sea, Fendi Casa—under the direction of interior design firm Studio Massari—has provided the furnishings for Lady Lara, which Benetti delivered last summer.

Fendi Casa have established an elegant image through their known preference for neutral colors mainly creams, silver, and champagne. Some may perceive this as monotonous but once you see the glamour you will definitely change your mind, their furniture and fabric define luxury. Their use of high end materials like mother of pearl, crocodile leather, & exotic wood such as Briar root (used in pipes) adds the unique touch that distinguishes a well designed product from a plain one.

All details were taken into consideration by Fendi designers, from the door handles to the flooring, to the luxurious lighting made with Swarovski crystals to the last vase and photo frame. Fendi Casa are known for their wide and beautiful selection of lighting and accessories. The glass used for their chandeliers , table lamps and vases is mainly Murano glass which is considered of highest end glass.

Fendi Designed a private plane interior as well…

Fashion takes over Interiors | Armani & Missoni

In the past decade the rise of interest in designer fashion brands has had its dramatic impact on the furniture and interior design world.  Fashion houses are no longer exclusive to "certain" clients, but have stretched out through numerous marketing strategies and social media methods to a large niche of people ranging from those who can just afford to "stare" to  those who consider designer brands as their daily bread.

Giorgio Armani has been one of the pioneers, entering the furniture world almost 10 years ago with his Armani Casa line.  His minimalist style in fashion is reflected in the clean lines of his furniture and simple fabric patterns. He relies on the use of high quality and luxurious materials such as Ebony wood, mother of pearl, silk fabrics and the likes. His Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa of Dubai has caused an international stir. The hotel has 160 guestrooms and suites, 8 restaurants, retail and Spa areas spread out on 6 floors. This step is the paving way for a number of future hotels and resorts scheduled to open in Marrakesh and  Egypt, with future plans for New York, London, & Paris. Armani designed private homes as well in Saint Tropez, Moscow, Singapore, and London. The next Armani hotel will open in Milan in 2011. The price per night for a classic studio is 2000 AED and for signature suite 8000 AED.

To compliment his furniture line, Giorgio Armani created a kitchen line produced by Molteni’s Dada SpA under license and a home fabric line by Rubelli SpA which already does the fabric for his furniture.

Personally I can not mention Armani Casa and just overlook the Armani Dolci collection, well known and very well appreciated in Kuwait for their amazing chocolate, jams, and tea, a perfect gift for any occasion (wink , wink). Moreover their Armani Fiori collection is nothing but great taste in a simple presentation of floral arrangements and vases.
