About the property: from Luxos:
Aberlash House was built in the 17th Century and once owned by the well-known Rich family, Lords of the Manor of Sonning. It was remodelled early the following century, with the addition of a handsome Georgian facade. The current owners have passionately and sympathetically restored the home and created a delightful, comfortable family residence whilst maintaining the original grandeur of the day.
Set on an approximately 4 acre island on the River Thames and constructed of Bath Stone under a tile roof with stone balustrading, the front elevation of the house has symmetrical proportions, with the entrance guarded by Doric columns.
The principal reception rooms are of elegant proportions and of particular note are the bow windows in both the master bedroom and the drawing room with views over the gardens and grounds to the River Thames. One also has to note the magnificence of the crown mouldings and the mahogany floors, the skirting boards and the high ceilings and the seamless introduction of a Crestron system throughout the house.
The house consists of a sumptuous master suite with en-suite bathroom and a fully fitted dressing room. There are 8 further bedrooms 7 of which are en-suite, 2 cloakrooms, a library, a study, a drawing room, a sitting room, a family room, a dining room and wine cellar. The kitchen and breakfast room with fireplace is bathed in natural light with doors to the terrace and garden. The well-proportioned kitchen has a full complement of top of the range appliances including Aga, Liebherr and Belling.
Other benefits and amenities of Aberlash House is the gym, complete with a steam room and jetted plunge pool, a charming quest or staff cottage of over 2000sq.ft, a boat house and docking facilities, ample garage and storage facilities.
The gardens are laid to lawn safeguarded with an amazing law care by the owners and the grounds provide a tranquil setting for the house, surrounded by the River Thames, and studded with many mature trees.
