Beirut: Mixed Feelings Exhibition | November 28- January 5, 2016

PHAT- Artist

Inspired by emotions that mix nostalgic joy with unruly chaos, ‘Beirut Mixed Feelings’ Art Exhibition launched on November 28 and remaining till January 5 2016 at L’Heure Bleue, the newly opened art space just steps away from Sursock Museum. Intending to create a gallery of paintings, sculptures, illustrations and photography which unfolds in real-time with every scream or laughter in Beirut, the exquisite art pieces are featured by 18 talented Lebanese artists including Selim Atieh, Alexandra Baduy, Laura Choueiry, Yasmeen Farah, Riad Hanna, Emile Issa, Alexandre Khoury, MOE, Cyril Najjar, Marwan Nahlé, Nayorba, PHAT 2, Mona Sehnaoui, Sharway, Kim Andrea Stockinger, Michele Tadros, TAZ and ZED.

Beirut has been an epicenter of creative ferment for decades and with the rapidly evolving political, environmental and emotional landscape, the artists ferociously churned out work that was populist and subversive, utopian and raw, antic and angry. They adopted an anarchic attitude that violated the gap between high art and mass culture, removed the production and reception of avant-garde art from its isolation within elite circles, and directly addressed social and political concerns.

‘Beirut Mixed Feelings’ artistically portrays what every Lebanese person truly feels. Mixed feelings, lots of questions to which there really are no answers to and a dilemma between love, patriotism and anger.

Pantone Reveals 2 Colors for 2016

pantone 2016

For the first time Pantone introduces two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity as the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.

Whether in soft or hard surface material, the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity brings calm and relaxation. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the engaging combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. Add in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.

How will you use these colors in 2016?
